Stress Ball Printing

Printing on Stress Balls can be a challenge due to the round shape of the product. To overcome this, the printing method used must be flexible enough to conform to the shape of the ball. This is usually achieved by using a stencil which can be wiped with a brush or machine to create the desired design. This can be quite time consuming and is generally not suitable for large quantities of printing.

Other print methods used to brand stress balls include tampo and screen printing. The process which is selected will depend on the shape and or print area of the ball along with the artwork requirements.

A popular and effective way to brand stress balls is through the pad printing technique. This allows a spot coloured logo to be printed onto the surface of the stress ball. This is achieved by creating a printing template which is transferred to the stress ball through a process called transfer release paper. This is a heat reactive clear adhesive layer which bonds to the item it is applied to minimising peeling or loss of ink coverage over time. This is a manual process requiring a technician to manually move the stress ball (also known as substrate in the printing industry) onto the branding plate. A soft pad which is commonly made from rubber silicone is then used to essentially pick up ink and stamp it onto the stress ball transferring the branding image to the surface of the item.
